International Scientific Congress of Belarusian Сulture to be held on 5–6 May 2016 at National Academy of Science of Belarus

On May 5-6, 2016 more than 300 researchers, scientists and experts in cultural studies, history, ethnography, linguistics and literature studies from around the world: Russia, Ukraine, the USA, Great Britain, Austria, Japan, Iran, Poland, Lithuania, Slovakia and Belarus will meet at the NAS of Belarus to take part at the I International Scientific Congress of Belarusian Culture. The organizers of large-scale event are the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus; State Scientific Institution "The Center for Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Research of the National Academy of Science of Belarus" and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus.

The main objective of the International Scientific Congress of Belarusian Culture is to preserve historical and cultural heritage of the Belarusian people, to make the scientific analysis of the current state of the national culture. The forum aims to contribute to the development of the national culture in the humanities and social sciences both in Belarus and abroad, and enhance international cooperation among scientists from different countries.

Congress meetings will be held in the thematic clusters format and will touch upon various aspects of the development and study of the Belarusian cultural space. Among the issues to be discussed by participants are national culture, language and literature; culture of Belarusian regions and ethnic communities; Belarusian Diaspora in the world, ethno-cultural processes, history and modernity; historical and cultural heritage, museums, national parks; traditional culture, architecture and design; fine and decorative arts; musical art; theater, etc.

During the Congress the exhibition of artifacts salvaged by Belarusian restorers and the exhibition of scientific editions will work. Guests of Congress will visit the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus, the National Historical Museum of the Republic of Belarus, the Belarusian State Museum of history of the Great Patriotic War, Museum of Ancient Culture and the National Library of Belarus.

The opening of the Congress — on May 5, 2016 at 10.00 am at the Large conference hall of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (Nezavisimosti Avenue, 66, 2nd floor.).
