Round table on «Development of biologically active additives, medicines and sports nutrition based on lactoferrin obtained from transgenic animals» is held at NAS of Belarus

On April 28, 2016 a Round table on the theme "Development of biologically active additives, medicines and sports nutrition based on lactoferrin obtained from transgenic animals» was held at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The event was organized by SSI "The Institute of Physiology of the NAS of Belarus." The Round table was attended by the leadership of the NAS of Belarus, scientists and specialists from organizations of the Department of Agrarian Sciences, the Department of Medical Sciences, the Department of Chemistry and Earth Sciences, the Department of Biological Sciences, representatives of medical institutions as well as enterprises of the pharmaceutical industry of the country.

The Head of the Laboratory for reproduction and embryo transfer and transgenosis of agricultural animals at Republican Unitary Enterprise “The Scientific and Practical Center for Animal Breeding of the NAS of Belarus” Alexander Budevich made a presentation on "Goat-producers of human recombinant lactoferrin are the basis for the development of a new high-tech area of the pharmaceutical industry in Belarus". The Head of the Laboratory of Protein at SSI "The Institute of Microbiology of the NAS of Belarus" Aliaksandr Kastsianevich presented a report on "Pilot production of human recombinant lactoferrin from the milk of transgenic goats on the basis of the Institute of Microbiology of the NAS of Belarus". Vladimir Lukashevich, senior researcher of the Laboratory of nutrition and sports physiology at SSI "The Institute of Physiology of the NAS of Belarus" briefed participants of the Round table on the report "The physiological effects of recombinant lactoferrin. Proposals for the production of pharmaceuticals and biologically active additives".

Within the framework of the Round table the Director of SSI "The Institute of Physiology of the NAS of Belarus" Iosif Zalutsky made a report on the goals and objectives of the Republican Center of Human Biological Systems Modeling.
