Opening the meeting the Chairman of the NASB Presidium V. Gusakov noted that 10 joint meetings and a number of scientific events were held, five collections of works was published for more than 10-year existence of the Inter-Academy Council. The challenge the Union State faces today is a real transition to an innovation economy based on increasing demand for scientific and technical potential of our countries. "This meeting will allow to exchange views and to reach the fundamental measures to address common challenges in the priority areas of scientific and technological activities in Russia and Belarus, primarily in the preparation of programs of the Union State, development of energy and energy efficiency, economic development, — V. Gusakov said. Another urgent matter is the creation of new joint research structures, particularly taking into account the expansion of the range of joint developments in the field of high technologies", as well as to develop new drugs, joint work in mechanical engineering, in the space industry, information technology.
During the meeting scientists discussed directions and specific actions for further joint cooperation.
