On June 10, 2016 (Friday) at 14.00 pm a solemn meeting of the country's scientific community with the participants of the 8th Belarusian Antarctic expedition will take place in the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (Minsk, Nezavisimosti ave., 66, 2nd floor, room 216). The program of the meeting includes demonstration of the film about the construction of the station in Antarctica, performance of the participants of the 8th Belarusian Antarctic expedition, representatives of the leadership of the NASB, research institutes, and famous scientists.

The expedition of the season 2015-2016: Alexey Gaidashov — the Head of the 8th Belarusian Antarctic expedition, Leonid Nikitiuk — surgeon, Sergei Torbik — hydrometeorologist, Maxim Gorbatsevich — engineer-radiometric and Alexey Zahvatov — master for the maintenance and repair of machines and mechanisms.

As previously reported, on October 29, 2015 an official start to the 8th Belarusian Antarctic expedition was given at the enlarged meeting of the Bureau of the NASB Presidium. During the season 2015-2016 specialists have carried out a planned complex of works on installation and commissioning of the first module of the Belarusian Antarctic station. Three-section specialized module is built to provide decent living conditions and research in the basing place of our expedition in geographical complex Gora Vechernaya in East Antarctica.
