Works of scientists of the Institute are in demand in the scientific world. The fact that accumulated experience of the Institute is not only unique and has no analogues, but also constantly evolving, including on the basis of means and methodology of related sciences, creative approach to experiment and profound erudition specialists largely contributes to this. The Institute currently is involved in research programs at all levels and conducts active international activity.
More than 10 years ago SSI "The Institute of Radiobiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus" has been transferred in Gomel - the center of the region, the most affected by the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. The main purpose of this move was the concentration of scientific personnel and specialized research in order to achieve the most effective overcoming of long-term consequences of the disaster. Over the years, the management and the staff have done a lot to ensure that the Institute has become one of the most important elements of scientific and innovation infrastructure in the region. The direction associated with the radiobiological, radioecological and radiomedical aspect of general scientific issues has become a priority, and still retains an exceptional significance for the country and the region.
