On August 2, 2016 an interagency meeting on the expansion of cooperation with Japan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia headed by the Chairman of the NASB Presidium Vladimir Gusakov took place in the NAS of Belarus. The event was attended by heads of the NASB organizations, as well as representatives of ministries, agencies and industrial enterprises of the country. The meeting was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to Japan Sergey Rakhmanov. During the event, Sergey Rakhmanov made a report on the development of business relations between Belarus and Japan, highlighting the growing interest from representatives of Japanese businesses to the investment and development of cooperation with business and science in the Republic of Belarus.

During the interagency meeting the most promising areas of cooperation with Japan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia were discussed. Among them are research in the field of medicine, genetic research, supercomputers and their application in physics, biology, the study of climate, research in the field of materials science, nanomaterials, the cultivation in Japan Belarusian varieties of potato etc.
