On July 2016 the Deputy General Director of the United Institute of Informatics Problems of the NAS of Belarus Mikhail Y. Kovalev was awarded the title of Distinguished Professor of Feng Chia University which is one of the largest universities of Taiwan.

Professor Mikhail Y. Kovalev obtained fundamental results of the world level in the field of optimal decision-making tasks solution, informatics and logistics. According to data of the Scopus and Google Scholar information systems, number of references to his publications reaches 2929 and 4929 respectively, and the h-index of citing is 24 and 31 respectively. By these indicators Professor M. Kovalev is in the list of the 5000 best professionals in the world in the area of decision-making and informatics.

The Feng Chia University was founded in 1961. About 20,000 students are training there. According to the survey of 1,000 companies in Taiwan from 2008 onwards, the university is each year included in the list of the 10 top universities in the country for quality of students preparation. Scientific papers of the University personnel in technical sciences, business, information and power technologies are regularly included in the list of the 10 top publications in the world by scientometric indicator Essential Science Indicators (Thomson & Reuters).
