On November 22–23, 2016 the first Republican Scientific and Practical Conference "Contemporary Belarusian Textual Criticism, Its Current Problems and Prospects of Development" was held at the Yanka Kupala Institute of Literature of the NASB Centre for Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Research.

The conference was attended by prominent Belarusian and Ukrainian scientists. At the conference many problems of textual criticism were discussed, among them there were problematic issues of contemporary and historical textual criticism; the relationship of textual criticism to literary and historical process; preparation of complete works with scientific commentaries taking into account national specificities; textual criticism and editorial practice, and others. At the conference the exhibition "Textual Criticism is My Profession ..." was organized.

At the solemn opening the participants and guests of the conference were welcomed by the Academician-Secretary of the Department of Humanitarian Sciences and Arts of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Corresponding Member of the NAS of Belarus, Grand PhD in Historical Sciences, Professor Aleksandr A. Kovalenya.
