A delegation of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, consisting of Academician-Secretary of the Department of Chemistry and Earth Sciences Sergey Usanov, Director of the Institute of Microbiology Emily Kolomiets, Director of the Republican Unitary Enterprise "Akademfarm" Natalia Safronova and head of the laboratory of proteomics at the Institute of Biophysics and Cell Engineering Dmitry Shcherbin, was in Vilnius at the invitation of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences. The main purpose of the visit was to establish contacts and cooperation in the field of biotechnology.

The delegation was received by the President of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences Valdemaras Razumas. The Belarusian delegation visited advanced scientific and industrial organizations of Lithuania, including the Center for Physical Sciences and Technology. Belarusian scientists visited modern and unique enterprises, headed by academician Vlades Bumelis. One of these companies works in the field of biopharmaceuticals.
