Agreement on establishment of innovation and industrial cluster "Microelectronics, Optoelectronics and Microwave Electronics" signed at B.I. Stepanov Institute of Physics

On February 10, 2017 an Agreement on establishment and activities of innovation and industrial cluster "Microelectronics, Optoelectronics and Microwave Electronics" was signed at the B.I. Stepanov Institute of Physics of the NAS of Belarus. The cluster included organizations of the NAS of Belarus, OJSC "Integral", OJSC "Planar", OJSC "Research Institute of Radio Materials", and some universities, namely the Belarusian State University, the Belarusian National Technical University, and the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radio Electronics.

The innovation and industrial cluster will be a coordinating structure, operating in the field of scientific research, experimental engineering developments, production of microelectronics, optoelectronics and microwave electronics products, as well as electronic and opto-electronic mechanical engineering and instrument making. The cluster’s activities will allow taking coordinated decisions in accordance with the world situation on the market of microelectronics and electronic mechanical engineering.

According to General Director of the State Scientific and Production Amalgamation "Optics, Optoelectronics and Laser Technique" and Director of the NASB B.I.Stepanov Institute of Physics, Academician Nikolai Kazak, creation of the cluster in electronics will make a legal framework for the coordinated collaboration of the Academy of Sciences organizations, universities, and industrial enterprises. He said, "We have developed a long-term cooperation plan for 2017-2020 years. It includes creation of several centers."

According to the long-term plan, a technological and experimental center for the development of new production technologies in the field of microelectronics will be created based on the "Integral". Besides, Center for Radiation Testing of Microelectronic Devices will be created based on SSPA "Scientific and Practical Materials Research Centre of the NAS of Belarus" and OJSC "Integral". In addition, a new technological equipment is planned to be created at OJSC "Planar" at the Center for development of accurate electronic engineering, which is to be organized jointly with OJSC "Integral" and the Academy of Sciences.
