International Center for Relativistic Astrophysics ICRANet Minsk to be opened on April 26 at NASB

On April 26, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. the International Symposium "Integration of Belarusian Scientists into Research Programs of Leading International Nuclear Physics Centers" will start its work at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (the building of the NASB Presidium, Minsk, 66 praspiekt Niezaliežnasci, Big Conference Hall).

At the beginning of the conference, the International Center for Relativistic Astrophysics ICRANet Minsk will be officially opened and the founder of the ICRANet Center Professor Remo Ruffini (Italy) will deliver a public lecture.

The symposium will be attended by more than 100 people, including 40 scientists from foreign countries: Russia, Germany, France, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, Switzerland, Sweden, Vietnam, Turkey, Lithuania, Kazakhstan. A number of them represent the world's largest nuclear physics centers, such as the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN, Switzerland), the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR, Russia), the Institute Laue-Langevin (ILL, Grenoble, France), the Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics (SB RAS, Russia), the accelerator complex J-Park (Japan), in which the most important researches in the field of "new physics" are performed and planned to be performed.

Belarusian physicists working in the physics of elementary particles, high energies and nuclear physics in the ATLAS and CMS collaborations through such international organizations as the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR, Dubna, Russia) and the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN, Geneva, Switzerland) made a significant contribution in the development and testing of calorimetric systems for ATLAS and CMS detectors on the world's largest particle accelerator at CERN, with the help of which the Higgs boson was discovered in 2012. 21 members of Belarusian research organizations are co-authors of publications on the Higgs boson discovery: 6 from B.I. Stepanov Institute of Physics, NASB; 11 from the Center for Particles and High-Energy Physics; 4 from the Institute for Nuclear Problems of BSU (INP BSU).

The Institute of Physics of the NASB is a member of the international collaboration COMET. The COMET project is a complex, highly accurate experiment aimed at finding phenomena outside the framework of the Standard Model by detecting the process of the coherent neutrinoless muon transition into an electron with a record sensitivity. The experiment will be carried out at J-PARC, which is one of the world's largest accelerator complex in Japan.

An important program element of the symposium will be planned for April ILL/NASB seminar, aimed at identifying the most promising areas of cooperation between the organizations of the NASB and ILL (Grenoble).

The participation of Belarusian scientific organizations in the work of the largest nuclear-physical centers is useful for the country, as it allows our scientists to participate directly in the largest scientific experiments, to be aware of and take part in the creation of new technologies that can be later used in applied research in the country. Participation in the work of international nuclear physical centers is also useful for training highly qualified personnel regarding the safe operation tasks of the nuclear power plant under construction. The symposium "Integration of Belarusian scientists into Research Programs of Leading International Nuclear Physics Centers" in Minsk will promote the participation of scientists from Belarus in the work of such centers.
