Before the Session of the General Meeting, the Chairman of the NASB Presidium Vladimir Gusakov told journalists that the meeting on problems and prospects of the Belarusian science development on April 7, 2017 in the National Academy of Sciences was a landmark one for the scientific community. "After the meeting, the hopes that we would receive support from the Head of the State and the government were strengthened. We hope to justify the trust," he said. Gusakov also noted that more than 60 conferences, symposia, round tables, congresses and meetings were planned to be held in the Year of Science in Belarus. New projects with foreign scientists will be organized in various fields: IT-technologies, physics, chemical synthesis, biotechnologies. Particular attention is given to the development of innovative partnership with Saudi Arabia.
Today, on the results of the Session, the Resolution "On Approving the Report of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for 2016" and the Resolution "On Amendments and Additions to the Resolutions of the General Meeting of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus" have been adopted.
Dr. Turki bin Saud bin Mohammed Al-Saud, President of King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), located in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, was unanimously elected an Honorary Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Dr. Turki bin Saud bin Mohammed Al-Saud was elected for outstanding achievements and personal contribution to the development of scientific and technical cooperation between the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, strengthening the high-tech sector of goods, works and services exports in the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus over the period 2006-2016.
