During the talks between the leadership of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the delegation of the Republic of Sudan, the prospects for the development of Belarusian-Sudanese scientific and technical cooperation between the NASB organizations and Sudan were discussed. Agricultural chemistry, fisheries, storage of agricultural products, food production, solar energy, and training of scientific personnel were announced among the promising areas for cooperation. The Chairman of the State Committee for Science and Technology Alexander Shumilin took part in the negotiations.
According to the Chairman of the NASB Presidium Vladimir Gusakov, in the near future the Academy of Sciences will prepare a list of specific projects in areas that are of particular interest to Sudan. A group of Belarusian scientists and specialists will also be formed to travel to Sudan. The next step in cooperation can be the conclusion of an Agreement on Cooperation between the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Republic of Sudan.
On August 7, 2017, the delegation of the Republic of Sudan led by Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Republic of Sudan Dr. Somaya Mohamed Ahmed Abo Kashwa, visited the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The delegation includes the heads of the largest educational and scientific organizations of Sudan. The guests were made familiar with the Museum of history of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the NASB permanent exhibition "Accomplishments of Belarusian scientists to the production sector". They also visited the NASB Researchers Training Institute and the United Institute of Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. At present, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus cooperates with academies of sciences and scientific centers of 90 countries of the world.
