The conference aims to sum up the main results of the Institute's work for 60 years and provide information on new scientific developments in topical areas. More than 250 scientists from Belarus, Ukraine, Russia, Poland, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Latvia, China, Estonia and other countries, representatives of various scientific schools take part in the event. There is an exhibition of Institute's works published over the past decades. A number of cultural activities is planned for participants and guests of the conference.
The conference continues with sectional sessions on 8 September at vul. Surhanava 1/2 (the NASB Center for Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Research).
Throughout the life of the Institute several hundred fundamental publications that are the pride of the Belarusian humanitarian science has been prepared.
The Institute has seen a strong focus on the training of scientific personnel in postgraduate and doctoral studies. A galaxy of highly qualified specialists represents today the national scientific schools in such fields as ethnology, folklore, architecture, fine arts, theater, music, cinema, etc.
At the moment, 102 employees including 17 doctors (1 academician and 1 corresponding member are among them) and 38 candidates of science work at the Institute. The Institute includes 8 departments, a museum of ancient Belarusian culture, and the Republican laboratory of historical and cultural heritage.
The Institute is working on priority research areas, developing state programs of fundamental research, innovative projects, and joint projects with scientists from Russia, Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, China, Lithuania, Estonia and other countries. The Institute is working with the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus to improve legislation on protection monuments of history and culture, as well as with other organizations, scientific institutions and educational and cultural institutions of the Republic of Belarus.
