On 7 December 2017, the Ministry of Communications and Informatization issues the postage stamp block "Outstanding Scientists of Belarus." On the day of issue of new postage stamps, a ceremony of official cancellation will take place at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. A ceremony of cancellation of stamps and envelopes with a special postmark is a special solemn procedure that makes it possible to feel involved in a significant event both in philately and in the history of the Belarusian science.

Belarus is proud of outstanding scientists who made a great contribution to the development of science. Their names are known both in and out of the country. Portraits of famous academicians of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus became the artistic basis of the postage stamp block. These are the portraits of Vsevolod Ignatovsky (the first President of the Belarusian Academy of Sciences, December 1928 – January 1931); Pavel Gorin (the second President of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, February 1931 – February 1936); Vasily Kuprevich (the seventh President of the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR, January 1952 – March 1969); and Nikolay Borisevich (the eighth President of the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR, May 1969 – March 1987).

The circulation of the block is 15 thousand.
