NAS of Belarus Prizes 2017 awarded

The Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus summed up the results of the competition for the prizes of the NAS of Belarus in 2017. The NASB Commission on Prizes decided to award seven prizes of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, three prizes in the field of Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, and Physical and Technical Sciences; three prizes in the field of Biology, Chemistry, Medicine, Agrarian Sciences and Earth Sciences; and one prize in the field of Humanities and Social Sciences. The size of the prize is 250 base values.

The NAS of Belarus Prizes 2017 in the field of Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, and Physical and Technical Sciences have been awarded to the following teams of scientists:

Alexander M. Andrianov, Chief Researcher of the NASB Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry, Doctor of Chemistry; Ivan A. Kashin, Researcher of the NASB United Institute of Informatics Problems; and Alexander V. Tuzikov, Director General of the NASB United Institute of Informatics Problems, Corresponding Member, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, Professor. The team is awarded for the cycle of works "Computer Design of Potential HIV-1 Inhibitors that are Promising for Creating New Generation Antiviral Drugs";

Vladimir N. Belyi, Head of the Diagnostic Systems Center of the B.I.Stepanov Institute of Physics of the NAS of Belarus, Corresponding Member, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, Professor; Vladimir E. Agabekov, Director of the NASB Institute of Chemistry of New Materials, Academician, Doctor of Chemistry, Professor; and Svetlana N. Kurilkina, Chief Researcher of the B.I.Stepanov Institute of Physics of the NAS of Belarus, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, Professor. The team is awarded for the cycle of works "Formation and Properties of New Types of Metal-Dielectric Nanostructures for Creating Optical Metamaterials";

Vladimir V. Klubovich, Chief Researcher of the NASB Institute of Technical Acoustics, Academician, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor; Vasily V. Rubanik, Director of the NASB Institute of Technical Acoustics, Corresponding Member, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor; and Vyacheslav G. Dorodeyko, Director of the Simurg Medical Enterprise, Candidate of Technical Sciences. The team is awarded for the cycle of works "Development of Technological Processes on the Basis of New Materials Using Ultrasonic Vibrations for the Production of Import Substituting Products for Medical Purposes."

The NAS of Belarus Prizes 2017 in the field of Biology, Chemistry, Medicine, Agrarian Sciences and Earth Sciences have been awarded to the following teams of scientists:

Alexander V. Bildyukevich, Director of the NASB Institute of Physical Organic Chemistry, Academician, Doctor of Chemistry, Professor; Tatyana V. Plisko, Senior Researcher of the NASB Institute of Physical Organic Chemistry, Candidate of Chemistry; and Vadim V. Usosky, Researcher of the NASB Institute of Physical Organic Chemistry. The team is awarded for the cycle of works "Scientific Fundamentals of Creating and Using Hollow Fiber Ultrafiltration Membranes for Water Purification and Separation of Technological Media";

Iosif V. Zalutskiy, Director of the NASB Institute of Physiology, Corresponding Member, Doctor of Medicine, Professor; Vladimir N. Podgaisky, Head of the Chair of the Belarusian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education, Doctor of Medicine, Professor; and Alexander G. Zhukovets, Head of the Chair of the Belarusian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education, Candidate of Medicine, Associate Professor. The team is awarded for the cycle of works "Development and Introduction of New Technologies of Reconstructive Surgery";

Alexander A. Kostenevich, Head of the Laboratory of the NASB Institute of Microbiology, Candidate of Biology; Leonida I. Sapunova, Chief Researcher of the NASB Institute of Microbiology, Candidate of Biology, Associate Professor; and Anatoly G. Lobanok, Head of the Laboratory of the NASB Institute of Microbiology, Academician, Doctor of Biology, Professor. The team is awarded for the cycle of works "Development of Biotechnologies for the Production of β-Galactosidase and Prebiotic Feed Additives Based on Lactose-Utilizing Microorganisms."

The NAS of Belarus Prize 2017 in the field of Humanities and Social Sciences have been awarded to the following team of scientists:

Andrey A. Metelsky, Leading Researcher of the NASB Institute of History, Candidate of History; Tatiana S. Bubenko, Associate Professor of the P.M.Masherov Vitebsk State University, Candidate of History, Associate Professor. The team is awarded for the cycle of works "Material Culture of Cities and Castles of Belarus in the Middle Ages and the Beginning of the New Time".

The NAS of Belarus Prizes were established to support those domestic scientists, whose scientific works were recognized in the Republic of Belarus and abroad, and had a significant impact on the implementation of state programs, contributed to the development of innovation activities, increase of the country's economy efficiency, ensuring food security, solution of environmental and health problems. Their establishment also aimed at stimulating creative activity and promoting the professional growth of young scientists. The competition for the Prizes of the NAS of Belarus will become annual since 2017.
