On 11 September 2018, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus hosted an expanded Bureau meeting of the Inter-Academic Council for the Union State problems. The First Vice Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Sergei Chizhik and Deputy Secretary of State, member of the Standing Committee of the Union State Alexey Kubrin took part in its work.

Among the items on the agenda was coordinating a new version of the draft Regulations on the above-mentioned Council: its new board; giving the Inter-Academic Council subcommittee functions on fundamental and exploratory research under the Commission for the formation of a unified scientific and technological space of the Union State.

The holding in 2019 of a regular meeting of the council and an international scientific and practical conference on problems of scientific and technical cooperation within the framework of the Union State was also discussed. Particular attention was paid to the progress in coordinating the concepts of scientific and technical programs of the Union State, as well as expanding the interaction of the academies of sciences in the field of information support, and increasing the publication activity.
