National Academy of Sciences of Belarus to showcase more than 200 technologies at Belagro 2019

47 organizations of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus will take part in the 29th International agricultural exhibition Belagro 2019. Scientists will showcase more than 200 developments and technologies.

The Scientific and Practical Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for Agriculture will showcase seeds of new varieties of major agricultural crops. The Institute of Flax will show new varieties of flax with high yield potential and productivity. The Institute of Plant Protection will present biopharmaceuticals based on local strains of antagonist microorganisms. These drugs not only help to increase yields and improve product quality but also are environmentally safe, do not accumulate in plants. They are harmless to humans, animals, beneficial insects, and help plants to decrease the accumulation of radionuclides. These products can be used in dietary and baby food.

The Scientific and Practical Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for Animal Breeding will showcase the latest biotechnologies in livestock breeding. Among them is confirmation of the reliability of the origin of animals on microsatellite loci (cattle, pigs, horses); marker-dependent selection: determining a genotype of an animal irrespective of gender, age, physiological state, etc. The Institute of Fish Industry will show the equipment of new incubation shop for reproduction of a fish planting material.

Visitors will learn about new varieties of potatoes, unique in yield, marketability and keeping quality at the exhibition stands of the Scientific and Practical Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for Potato, Vegetable and Fruit Growing.

The range of technologies offered academic scientists for the agrarian sector extends every year.

Thus, the B.I.Stepanov Institute of Physics of the NAS of Belarus will showcase a new technology of using laser-optical methods in growing valuable fish species, which can increase the reproductive function of sturgeon by 1.3-1.5 times.

Scientists from the Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry of the NAS of Belarus will show environmentally safe garden multifunctional, anti-cancer putty for trees. It is weather-and frost-resistant, long-held on the bark, has a reflective effect, prevents moisture loss through open wounds (evaporation), closes access to harmful microorganisms, and promotes wound healing. OPTRON Instrument Manufacturing Plant will present electrified lift trolleys TPE-1 for technological process of growing vegetables and plants in greenhouse farms.

The Institute of Microbiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, which has been cooperating with agricultural enterprises of the country for many years, will showcase biological products for industrial fish farming, which are more efficient than foreign analogues. These microbial fertilizers of complex action for fish ponds increase the natural fish productivity of the nursery ponds by 1.6 times; reduce feed costs by 10-12%; reduce the consumption of nitrogen-phosphorus fertilizers in comparison with the standard by 30-50%, and when using organic fertilizers in the form of humus to 100%; reduce the cost of planting material by 4-10%.
