A press conference entitled "Achievements of Belarusian scientists in the use of cellular technologies for the treatment of socially dangerous diseases" took place at the press center of the House of Press. The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus was represented by Andrei Goncharov, Director of the Institute of Biophysics and Cell Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Candidate of Medical Sciences.
Andrei Goncharov told about the cooperation of the Institute with the Ministry of Health, conducted in the use of cellular technologies in treating patients since 2006. It was noted that interest in the use of cell medicine, especially for the treatment of non-communicable diseases, is growing in the country and the world. Belarusian scientists and physicians use cellular technologies in traumatology, orthopedics, neurology, as well as for the treatment of oncological diseases. The expert said that the liberal approach of the Belarusian legislation to the use of cellular technologies opens up opportunities for research and the introduction of new medical products, as well as creates the potential for exporting products and services abroad. There is a positive experience of using dendritic cells in breast and pancreatic cancer in cases where standard treatment protocols do not show their effectiveness. According to the Director of the Institute of Biophysics and Cell Engineering, work is underway to introduce cell technologies in standard treatment protocols. The necessary assistance one can obtain for a fee at Cell Technologies Centre at the Institute of Biophysics and Cell Engineering of the NAS of Belarus.
