Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Sergey Kilin was elected a foreign member of the Russian Academy of Sciences

Academician Sergey Kilin, Deputy Chairman of the NASB Presidium, Honored Worker of Science of the Republic of Belarus, was elected a foreign member of the Russian Academy of Sciences. That decision was made at the RAS General Meeting on 15 November 2019.

Sergey Kilin is a well-known physicist specialized in quantum optics and quantum Informatics, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor. He is the author of more than 620 scientific papers, including 6 monographs. Academician Killin was awarded the Lenin Komsomol Prize of Belarus (1982) for a series of articles entitled “Quantum theory of resonant scattering of laser radiation”. He is a laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Belarus (2002) for the series of works “Quantum electrodynamics and coherent nuclear processes in the medium: quantum and nuclear optics”. Sergey Killin is the Francysk Skaryna Medal holder (2014).

Sergey Kilin works as a teacher at the Belarusian State University and foreign universities delivering lectures on quantum optics and computer science. He supervises major national scientific programs and international scientific projects in quantum physics and computer science.

Academician Kilin is a member of the editorial board of the journal ‘Optics and Spectroscopy’, editor-in-chief of ‘Journal of Applied Spectroscopy’ and ‘Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Physics and Mathematics series", a member of two committees for dissertation defense, chairman of the series of 16 international conferences on quantum optics and Informatics (ICQOQI), a member of the JINR Scientific Council (Dubna) and a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the SKOLKOVO Foundation.

On 13-15 November, the General Meeting of the Russian Academy of Sciences was held in Moscow where new full members of the RAS, corresponding members and foreign members of the RAS were elected.

Leading foreign scientists who have been recognized by the world scientific community can be elected foreign members of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Foreign members of the RAS are elected by the General Assembly of the RAS.
