Solemn presentation of master’s diplomas to graduates of magistracy of Researchers Training Institute will take place on 5 July
On July 5, 2017 (Wednesday) at 10.00 a solemn presentation of master’s diplomas to graduates of magistracy of Researchers Training Institute will take place in the Conference Hall of the NASB Presidium (Praspiekt Niezaliezhnasci, 66). The ceremony will be attended by the representatives of the Higher Attestation Commission of the Republic of Belarus, Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus, well-known scientists of the country.
In the Year of Science 77 people have got master’s degree on 8 specialties (biology, art, mechanical engineering and engineering science, applied mathematics and computer science, sociology, physics, chemistry, economics and national economy management). The average score of master's theses defense is 9.1.
NASB leadership representatives took part in Days of Belarusian Science in Moscow
The Days of Belarusian Science were held in Moscow on 27-28 June 2017. The event was coincide with the 4th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, which opens on 29 June in the Russian capital. The main purpose of the Days of Belarusian Science is the expansion of direct contacts, the exchange of experience in scientific, technical and innovative fields of scientists in Belarus and Russia, popularization of science as a driving force of the innovation economy and its increasing role in society, showcasing the latest scientific and technical achievements. Sergei Chizhik, Vice-Chairman of the NASB Presidium, Pyotr Vityaz, the Head of Academy Staff of the NAS of Belarus, Alexander Sukalo, Deputy Chairman of the NASB Presidium, Alexander Kilchevsky, Chief Scientific Secretary of the NAS of Belarus, took part in the plenary session from the side of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
Belarusian scientists are invited to participate in competition of International Ecology Prize "EcoWorld"
The Russian Academy of Natural Sciences (RANS) announced a competition to nominate laureates for the International Environmental Prize "EcoWorld".
The International Ecology Prize "EcoWorld" is a public award for outstanding achievements in environmental protection and ensuring environmental security, as well as in other environmental activities aimed at sustainable development in the 21st century. The competition should contribute to the development of environmental policy, increase the level of environmental education and ecological culture of the population, development environmental science, spread environmentally friendly technologies, improvement public health and conservation of biodiversity.
National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences signed documents on scientific and technical cooperation
On June 27, 2017 during the talks Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and Vietnam President Tran Dai Quang a package of bilateral documents on the expansion of cooperation in various fields was signed. It includes Agreement on scientific and technical cooperation signed by Vladimir Gusakov, Chairman of the NASB Presidium, and Chau Van Minh, President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VANT); Memorandum of understanding between the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences signed by Vladimir Gusakov, Chairman of the NASB Presidium, and Nguyen Quang Thua, President of the Vietnam Academy of Social Science.
The agreements will serve as a powerful additional impetus for the development of cooperation between leading scientific organizations of the two countries.
NASB representatives awarded Medals of Francysk Skaryna
Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has signed Decree № 218 to present state awards to 58 people. Representatives of various professions received orders and medals in recognition of the many-years productive work, exemplary fulfillment of service duties, significant personal contribution to the creation of the Belarusian space system for the remote Earth sensing, development of the construction industry and production of building materials, Belarusian printing, art, culture and architecture, great achievements in communications, scientific research and training of highly qualified specialists. Medal of Francysk Skaryna was conferred on deputy director of the Republican Unitary Enterprise "Publishing house "Belaruskaya Navuka" Stanislav Nichiporovich; deputy director on scientific work of the State Scientific Institution "Institute of Microbiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus" Natalia Sverchkova; head of the department of rare books and manuscripts of the State Institution "The Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus" Aleksandr Stefanovich; director of the executive directorate of the Belarusian Republican Fund of Fundamental Research Sergey Gaponenko.
Institute of History and Institute of Microbiology of NAS of Belarus entered on Republican Board of Honor
On June 23, 2017 Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has signed Decree № 222 "On the placing the winners of the competition for 2016 on the National Board of Honor." 68 winners were identified to their entering on the Republican Board of Honor on a result of their work in 2016 year. SSI "Institute of Microbiology of the NAS of Belarus" and SSI "Institute of History of the NAS of Belarus" were highlighted among the best scientific organizations.
Entering on the Republican Board of Honor is a public recognition of the work of residents and collectives of enterprises that have made a significant contribution to the social and economic development and welfare of the country.
NASB Researchers Training Institute receives documents to master’s degree program in 2017
The Researchers Training Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus has started receiving documents for admission to master's degree program for the academic year 2017/18 in ten specialties: biology, arts, mathematics, mechanical engineering, applied mathematics and computer science, sociology, physics, chemistry, economics and national economy management, and law. The admission is carried out on a budgetary and paid basis. One may apply from 27 June to 5 July 2017, the entrance examinations will be held on 6–12 July 2017. The rules of admission, schedule of documents admission and examinations are available on the website of the Researchers Training Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and Henan University (PRC) sign Cooperation Agreement
On June 26 2017, the Cooperation Agreement between the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and Henan University (PRC) was signed by Academician Vladimir G. Gusakov, Chairman of the NASB Presidium, and Professor Lou Yuangong, President of Henan University.
Chairman of the NASB Presidium Vladimir Gusakov emphasized at the signing ceremony: "This important document will become the basis for uniting the efforts of Belarusian and Chinese scientists to achieve significant scientific results."
The cooperation agreement between the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and Henan University aims at establishing strategic cooperation in order to explore socio-cultural and economic problems of implementing Belt and Road Initiative.
Days of Belarusian Science, Innovations, Investments to be held at EXPO-2017 in Kazakhstan
On 5–6 July 2017, the Days of Belarusian Science, Innovations and Investments will take place at the International Specialized Exhibition EXPO 2017, which is being held in Astana (the Republic of Kazakhstan) from June 10 till September 10, 2017.
The purpose of the Days is to present promising areas of scientific research of the Republic of Belarus, exchange experience and hold talks between current and potential partners from Belarus and Kazakhstan in order to work jointly on addressing sci-tech tasks and commercialization of innovations
Team of Belarusian and Siberian scientists awarded Academician V.A.Koptyug Prize for 2017
By the decision of the Presidium of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, a team of Belarusian and Siberian scientists has been awarded the Academician V.A.Koptyug Prize for 2017 for the series of research works on investigation of the fundamental features of laser generation of trivalent europium ions in anisotropic crystalline matrices of binary molybdates and tungstates.
Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library recognized best scientific library of year
On 16 June 2017, the winners of the republican contest "The Best Library of the Year" were awarded at the National Library of Belarus. More than 50 libraries of our republic took part in the contest in 5 nominations. By decision of the jury, the Central Scientific Library of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus was named the winner of the contest in the nomination "The Best Scientific Library".
State Cadastre of Animals developed by NASB Scientific and Practical Center for Bioresources
The staff of the NASB Scientific and Practical Center for Bioresources has developed an information resource “State Cadastre of Animals”, which is a systematized set of information on the geographical distribution of wildlife species related to objects of fisheries, hunting, and procurement and/or storage. It contains information on the quantitative and qualitative characteristics of these wildlife objects, the use of their resources, and other information necessary to ensure their sustainable use.
The information resource has been developed within the framework of the project "Development of Electronic Databases of Flora and Fauna Cadastres with a Web Interface." It has been implemented with the support of UNDP. Its implementation has been funded by the Global Environment Facility.
FAO regional seminar starts at NAS of Belarus
A two-day regional seminar on sustainable future “Sustainable Food Production and Agriculture for the Implementation of the Agenda for Sustainable Development until 2030 and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change” started its work at the NAS of Belarus on 19 June 2017. It intends to reconcile the urgent needs and examples from different countries, and technical knowledge and a global assessment of the situation by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). Over 100 representatives of the government authorities, farmers' and producers' organizations, FAO partners, and financial institutions from 19 countries of Europe and Central Asia gathered to participate in the event.
Employees of NASB Institute of Radiobiology take part in international scientific conference RAD 2017
On 12–16 June 2017, the fifth International Scientific Conference on Radiation and Applications in Various Fields of Research RAD 2017 was held in Budva, Montenegro. More than 200 people from 60 countries took part in the event. The conference discussed issues related to the general problems of radiobiology, the response of biological systems to the effects of ionizing radiation, dosimetry and radiation measurements, radiation protection, radioecology, radioactivity and environmental chemistry, radiochemistry, biophysics and environmental physics.
Second Belarusian-Chinese humanitarian scientific forum begins its work in Minsk
The second Belarusian-Chinese humanitarian scientific forum on the problems of alignment of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the Eurasian Economic Union, which began its work on 15 June 2017, brought together over 120 government officials, diplomats, representatives of scientific institutions and universities of the Republic of Belarus and the People's Republic of China. Scientists and experts are discussing mechanisms for ensuring economic growth and improving the competitiveness of the Belarus and China economies, intensifying their scientific, technical, and humanitarian cooperation, etc.

FAO to hold regional seminar on sustainable future at NAS of Belarus
On 19–20 June 2017, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) will hold a regional seminar on sustainable food production and agriculture for the implementation of the Agenda for Sustainable Development until 2030 and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. The NAS of Belarus will host the forum.
