National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of Belarus announced Top 10 achievements of scientists for 2019

On the basis of competition results for 2019 held by the Commission for assessment of materials of Top 10 2019 competition, the Bureau of the Presidium of NAS decided to appreciate 2019 Top 10 results of activities of NAS scientists in fundamental and applied research.

  1. Dmitry Khoroshko, Senior Researcher of State Scientific Institution Institute of Physics n.a. B. Stepanov of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, for determination of rate of optical field quantization quantifying contribution of quantum fluctuations into field entropy; the results obtained are important for quantum calculations, cryptography and metrology.
  2. Evgeny Lutsenko, Deputy Manager of Centre of state scientific institution Institute of Physics n.a. B. Stepanov of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor; Nikolay Rzheutsky, Senior Researcher of State Scientific Institution Institute of Physics n.a. B. Stepanov of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences; Alexey Voynilovich, Research Scientist of State Scientific Institution Institute of Physics n.a. B. Stepanov of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, for development of technology of high-temperature molecular beam epitaxy of aluminium nitride and aluminium- gallium nitride layers in heterostructures on sapphire and silicon carbide substrates for creation of transistor basis of microwave frequency and power electronics.

Irina Danilovich, Leading Research Scientist of State Scientific Institution Institute of Nature Management of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Candidate of Geography, Associate Professor, for determination of current and long-term transformations of hydrothermic regime in western part of the East European Plain due to global climatic changes.

Ekaterina Slobozhanina, Chief of Laboratory of State Scientific Institution Institute of Biophysics and Cell Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Corresponding Member, Doctor of Biology, professor; Alexandr Tamashevsky, Leading Research Scientist of State Scientific Institution Institute of Biophysics and Cell Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Candidate of Biological Sciences; Julia Garmaza, Leading Research Scientist of State Scientific Institution Institute of Biophysics and Cell Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Candidate of Biological Sciences, for development of highly-sensitive method of recognition of pathologic human cells with use of biosensors on the basis of zinc oxide photonic nanostructures for diagnostics of hematologic malignancies.

Valery Dombrovsky, Senior Researcher of State Research and Production Association Scientific and Practical Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for Bioresources, Candidate of Biological Sciences; Marina Dmitrenok, Leading Research Scientist of State Research and Production Association Scientific and Practical Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for Bioresources, Candidate of Biological Sciences, for research of genetic history of spotted eagle: critical reduction of species count within the postglacial period on the territory of Europe was caused by unfavourable environmental factors and not associated with genetic pool reduction.

Natalia Chueshova, Research Scientist of State Scientific Institution Institute of Radiobiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus; Igor Cheshyk, Director of State Scientific Institution Institute of Radiobiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor; Frantishek Vismont, Head of Pathologic Physiology Department of Educational Institution Belarusian State Medical University, Senior Researcher of State Scientific Institution Institute of Physiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, corresponding member of NAS of Belarus, Doctor of Medicine, Professor, for a unique experiment and determination of stable dependence of reproductive abilities of male rats and their numerous subsequent generations from electromagnetic radiation of mobile devices.
