On the 29th of May, 2020, the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus made a decision to award Academician Fedorov Prize 2020 to Mikhail Galynsky, the Leading Research Associate of the Laboratory of Nuclear Physics and Safety Problems of the State Scientific Institution Joint Institute for Power and Nuclear Research – Sosny of the NASB, for work cycle “Polarizing, non-linear and structural effect of quantum electrodynamics actual processes”.

The cycle includes 50 scientific papers published in 1981 – 2019, with 30 articles in peer-reviewed journals, including international ones (Physical Review, Nuclear Physics, Nuclear Instruments and Methods, European Physical Journal, International Journal of Modern Physics); 10 articles in collected papers of international conferences, 5 articles in collection of research papers “Covariant Methods in Theoretical Physics”, 5 preprints. These papers are of great importance for design and development of new-type accelerators and are recognized by the international scientific community.

The prize named after prominent Belarusian physicist, academician Fedor Fedorov, is awarded for works being a great contribution to research development in physical and mathematical sciences. It is creation and development of a new scientific field, discovery of new phenomena and patterns, development of new principles and methods, obtaining of knew knowledge being the basis of advanced technologies.

The prize (one) is awarded every three years on the eve of Fedor Fedorov’s birthday (the 19th of June). The competitions for this prize were held in 2004, 2007, 2011 (confined to the 100th anniversary from Fedor Fedorov’s birthday), 2014 and 2017. 4 work cycles were submitted for the competition 2020, including 2 cycles from the NASB and 2 cycles from the Belarusian State University.
