On February 4, 2021 the NASB hosted a meeting with the Under Secretary of the Union State Alexey Kubrin with the representatives of state customers of programs and US events from the Republic of Belarus in the fields of defense, security, law enforcement, military-technical cooperation and defense industry. During the meeting, preliminary results of their implementation in 2020 were summed up, issues of preparation of draft concepts for new US programs in these areas were considered, as well as issues od Belarusian-Russian cooperation in scientific, technical and military-technical spheres.
As the head of NASB Staff, academician Petr Vityaz told reporters, the main focus of US programs is on developments in the field of space technology. In particular, we are talking about the “Kompleks-SG” program to create small- sized satellites for near-Earth space exploration. Also, work is underway on the development of supercomputers and the development of additive technologies. In addition, Vityaz noted that an important task is not only development, but also the creation of a competitive product with subsequent entry into the consumer market.
In turn, the Under Secretary of the Union State Alexey Kubrin stressed that despite the pandemic, the disbursement of the US programs was carried out at the same level as it was in previous years. In terms of the defense complex, in 2020, about 2.7 billion Russian rubles were spent. If we talk about entire spectrum of programs, including medical and agricultural, then the disbursement of funds amounted to about 3.36 billion,” said Kubrin. According to him, 12 programs were implemented in 2020, 3 of which have already been completed.
