On February 9, 2021, f pilot innovation facility “Scientific and Experimental manufacturing of dry dairy products and ingredients” was opened at the Scientific Production Republican Subsidiary Unitary Enterprise “Institute of Meat and Dairy Industry” NASB. Within the framework of the project, not only a pilot industrial site was created to test the results of scientific research for scientific support of the dairy processing industry, but also low-tonnage production of specialized dry dairy products (including for children with phenylketonuria), dry ice cream mixes (including those with reduced sugar content), import-substituting food additives for the meat and dairy industries. The created innovative base will also be used for practical training of specialists from dairy processing enterprises, students of colleges and universities of an agricultural profile in modern processes of membrane concentration, electrodialysis and drying of milk raw materials.
The Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov noted: “There is now a great demand for safe, high-quality food products that contribute to the health of the body and the prevention of diseases. Children, adults, athletes, people who work in difficult conditions, special food is needed for. Our scientists are engaged in the development of the latest products in order to provide the Belarusian market with necessary and high-quality food products. Today we have opened the production of a number of innovative products that are important for the country, including for children with certain diseases. This is our gift the Belarusian People’s Congres”.
The Director of Institute of Meat and Dairy Industry, in turn, stressed that is very important for scientists to have their own experimental scientific base. “We can quickly carry out everything going, and not wait until we get access to test technology at enterprises. The specificity of such production is that it allows us to make small batches. This is not profitable for large factories. Imported products for patients with phenylketonuria today are 2.5 times more expensive than ours. So, we will also perform a certain kind of social function”, said Alexey Meleshchenya.
In general, the launch and operation of a new facility at the SPRSUE “Institute of Meat and Dairy Industry” will contribute to the further development of the dairy industry in our republic, to ensure the integration of three key aspects in the development of an innovative economy: science, production and education. This facility as innovative infrastructure is aimed at scientific support of the export-oriented dairy industry and is the NASB’s contribution to achieving the planned parameters of the Program of Socio-Economic Development of the Republic of Belarus for 2021-2025.
