The NASB approved an action plan for the Year of National Unity

The NASB approved an action plan for the Year of National Unity. This decision was made on February 18, at a meeting of the Bureau of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The plan includes measures (about 30 points) to consolidate society, unite the Belarusian people on the basis of the ideas of sovereignty and independence of the country, expanding constructive dialogue in society and attracting young people to it, as well as a number of measures to strengthen interfaith peace and interethnic harmony, improving work with Belarusians abroad. The plan also includes significant events of the Council of Yong Scientists of the NASB. As the Chairman of the Presidium of the NASB Vladimir Gusakov noted, “this plan is only the basis, throughout the year it will be filled with new significant events and initiatives”.

In the Year of National Unity, scientists have planned to hold scientific forums and conferences, prepare scientific and popular scientific publications on the development of civil society and local self-government institutions, the history of Belarusian statehood and the feat of the people in the Eastern Front of World War II. Lectures, discussion platforms, a series of round tables “Civil society and the state”, regional conferences, presentations of new publications by scientists of the NASB will be organized.

In the near future a round table “Creation of a Belarusian-language legislative base as a factor of harmonious development of society” will be held and events dedicated to the Day of the Mother Language.

It is planned to hold a round table “Social and economic priorities and mechanisms for strengthening national unity” within the framework of the International scientific-practical conference “Strategy for the development of the Belarusian economy: challenges, implementation tools and prospects”.

Throughout the year, sociological research “National Unity as a Factor of Strengthening the Belarusian State” and presentation of a 10-volume collection of works by Yanka Bryl will be carried out.

It is planned to hold major scientific forums, including the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Historical Memory and Patriotism as the Most Important. Moral Guidelines of the Belarusian Society and the State. Factors of Consolidation in the Context of Modern Challenges and Threats” (to the 100th anniversary of the conclusion of the peace treaty)”, International scientific conference “German aggression against the USSR (to the 80th anniversary of the tragedy of the beginning of the Eastern Front of World War II”, etc.

The list of events includes a number of regional conferences: “Kopyl Readings – 2021”, “IX Lepel Readings”, “Chachershchyna: Return to the Origins”, XIV Karelichy Local Lore Readings “Historical and Cultural Heritage of Karelichchyna”.
