A press-conference was held on the latest developments of agricultural scientists

On March 30, 2021 at the National Press Center of the Republic of Belarus, a press conference “The latest developments of Belarusian scientists-agrarians for the preparation and conduct of the sowing campaign” was held.

The speakers from the NAS of Belarus at the event were Dmitry Luzhinsky, Deputy Director General for Science of the RUE “Research and Practical Center of the National Academy of Science of the Republic of Belarus for Arable Farming”, Ina Rodzkina, Deputy Director General for Science of the RUE “Research and Practical Center of the National Academy of Science of the Republic of Belarus for Potato, Fruit and Vegetable Growing” and Syargey Loyka, a head of the laboratory for soil cultivation and crops of the RUE “Scientific and Practical Center of the National Academy of Science of the Republic of Belarus for Agricultural Mechanization”. They spoke in detail about the new developments of agricultural scientists for the preparation and conduct of the sowing campaign.

As Deputy Director of the RUE “RPC of the NAS of Belarus for Arable Farming” Dmitry Luzhinsky noted, snow was a negative factor for plants this winter, which stopped the process of photosynthesis and weakened seedlings, since it lay on the frozen ground. But the expert is sure that spring will take its toll and the losses will be immediate. Belarusian breeders are actively working to develop new varieties of grain, fruit crops and vegetables. At the same time, the difference between the bill Russian school of agriculture and the western one is that there the emphasis is on the development of chemicals to fight diseases and pests, and in Belarus they are trying to minimize the use of chemistry by developing varieties the resistant to unfavorable factors.
