On April 9, 2021, a press conference was held at the National Press Center of the Republic of Belarus “60 years from the first manned flight into space. State and prospects of the Belarusian- Russian cooperation in the space sector”.
The speakers at the event were Vladimir Gusakov the Chairman of the Presidium the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Academician, the Head of the Agency for Space Research of the NAS of Belarus; Petr Vityaz the Head of NASB Staff, Academician, the Deputy Head of the Agency for Space Research of the NAS of Belarus; Aleksander Tuzikov General Director The SSI “The United Institute of Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus”; Sergey Zolotoy the Director of the Scientific and Engineering Republican Unitary Enterprise (SERUE) “Geoinformation System” of the NAS of Belarus.
Participants of the press event spoke about the current state of the aerospace industry in our country and interaction with foreign colleagues, as well as about the promising projects and join Belarusian-Russian programs.
According to the Chairman of the Presidium the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov, “today we can confidently say about the creation of a space industry in Belarus, in which more than 20 scientific and industrial organizations operate, where about 4000 qualified specialists have been employed, and a large strategic space exploration system has been built”. He emphasized that since the times of the Soviet Union, Belarusian scientists and production workers have been actively involved in the creation of new materials, optics, electronics, information technologies for space applications. The Agency for Space Research has been created and is successfully operating at the Academy of Sciences, and a powerful team of specialists has been formed.
Vladimir Gusakov noted that the main partner of Belarus in the framework of corporation in the space sector is Russia: “Over the long period of cooperation, a stable Russian-Belarusian scientific, technical and industrial cooperation in the space sector has developed”. The Chairman of the Presidium the NAS of Belarus also said that the successful implementation of five programs of the Union State on space issues, the customer of which is the Academy of Sciences from Belarus, has become the technological basis of the Belarusian space system for remote sensing of the earth.
