On April 8, 2021, the press conference “Philosophy demand by life. To the 90th anniversary of the Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus” was held at the National Press Center of the Republic of Belarus.
The speakers at the event were Anatoly Lazarevich, Director of the Institute of Philosophy, Tadeush Adulo, the Head of the Center for Social Philosophy and Anthropological Studies of the Institute of Philosophy, Natalia Kutuzova, the Head of the Center for Study of Globalization, Integration and Socio-Cultural Cooperation of the Institute of Philosophy.
Among the topics that were considered during the press event, the features of the evolution and development of the Institute of Philosophy of the NAS of Belarus in the Soviet and post-Soviet period, the formation of scientific schools and research areas, the most important scientific results, socially significant book publications, the digital era and its philosophical dimension, key problems of modern social practice and the role of philosophy in their understanding of solutions, philosophical knowledge in their practical meaning and application, and so on.
As Anatoly Lazarevich noted, “90 years is a landmark date, behind which there is a long period of development of both the National Academy Sciences and the Institute of Philosophy. In human civilization, philosophy carries a great humanitarian mission, which is more two thousand years old. Today, the digital era is changing the world radically, but philosophy is demanded by life, new types of reality become the object of its research”.
The Institute has been working in international direction for more than 25 years. A large share of joint research is carried out in cooperation with the Russian Academy of Sciences, including within the framework of the Union State. “We are preparing an analytical note on the image of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation in the media. This will be a comparative analysis of the image of the two states presented in media resources”, said Natalia Kutuzova, the Head of the Center for Study of Globalization, Integration and Socio-Cultural Cooperation of the Institute of Philosophy.
