On April 15, at State Institution “I.S. Lupinovich Belarus Agricultural Library” of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, a presentation of new scientific works of the Institute for soil science and agrochemistry of the NAS of Belarus was held.
The presentation was attended by the director of the Institute for soil science and agrochemistry of the NAS of Belarus, Honored Scientist of the Republic of Belarus, Dr. Sc. (Agr.), Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Lapa Vitaly Vitalievich and deputy director for scientific activities, Dr. Sc. (Agr.), Professor Tsybulko Nikolay Nikolaevich.
The presentation considered a wide range of issues related to the implementation of measures to increase yields and protect agricultural lands from soil degradation in the Republic of Belarus. Scientists spoke about the plans of the state program in this direction for 2021 – 2025. Vitaly Vitalievich Lapa dwelled on the role of organic and mineral fertilizers in increasing the productive capacity of soils and the productivity of agricultural lands.
On the eve of the tragic date – the 35th anniversary of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant – aspects of ensuring life in the affected areas and effective use of agricultural lands contaminated with radionuclides were touched upon. Nikolay Nikolaevich Tsybulko highlighted in detail the problems of production in conditions of radioactive contamination of crop and livestock products, which meet republican and international standards for the content of cesium-137 and strontium-90.
Separately, Nikolay Nikolaevich spoke about the enormous work that is being carried out in the Republic of Belarus within the framework of state programs to overcome the consequences of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant disaster and is highly appreciated by experts all over the world.

After the presentation of the publications, all those presents could get acquainted with the book exhibitions “Soil science at the present stage (on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Institute for soil science and agrochemistry of the NAS of Belarus)” and “Environmental consequences of the Chernobyl accident 35 years after the catastrophe” organized by the staff of the I.S. Lupinovich Belarus Agricultural Library of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
The event was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere, it was useful not only for specialists in the field of soil science, but also for people who are interested in healthy and balanced nutrition.
All the books presented at the event where donated to the fund of the Belarusian agricultural library, where everyone interested can get acquainted with them.
