On June 17, 2021, a delegation of the Turkish-Belarusian business council for cooperation under the Council for Foreign Economic Relations of Turkey (DEIK), headed by the Head of the Board Yilmaz Saydjan, as well as representatives of the Turkish Embassy to the Republic of Belarus, headed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey Mustafa Ozcan, visited the NAS of Belarus.

As the Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov noted during the talks, the NAS of Belarus pays special attention to the development of mutually beneficial cooperation with Turkey. “We have long-term ties with the Turkish side. We actively cooperate with the Turkish science and technology research world (TÜBİTAK) and the Turkish Academy of Sciences with which we have a Scientific Cooperation Agreement. But we believe that a scientific potential is not being fully realized”, stressed Vladimir Gusakov. The Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus offered the Turkish side a wide range of directions for implementation.

The Head of the Board of the Turkish-Belarusian business council for cooperation under the Council for Foreign Economic Relations of Turkey (DEIK) Yilmaz Saydjan, in turn, noted that today Turkey is especially interested in Belarusian innovations in the field of components for electric transport, super capacitors, biotechnologies, and pharmaceuticals.

During the talks, the leadership of the NAS of Belarus and the delegation of the Turkish-Belarusian business council for cooperation under the Council for Foreign Economic Relations of Turkey (DEIK) discussed the prospects for the development of Belarusian-Turkish cooperation in the field of innovative technologies and research and development. Among the areas of mutual interest, there were also voiced unmanned aerial vehicles, new biomaterials, including biodegradable, laser technologies, new varieties of agricultural crops, as well as joint research in the field of monitoring and control of air pollution in Antarctica. At the permanent exhibition of the NAS of Belarus “Achievements of Domestic Science – Production” the guests got acquainted with the latest developments of scientific organizations of the NAS of Belarus.
