The scientific and technical center for digital technologies “IT-City Academic” will be created on the basis of the Joint Institute for Informatics Problems and the Institute of Mathematics of that Academy of Sciences. This decision was made at a meeting of the Bureau of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

The purpose of the center is to unite efforts and competencies of organizations that work in the field of information technology, to solve urgent problems of socio-economic and scientific-technical development of the Republic of Belarus. Unlike the HTP park, the main efforts in IT-City will be aimed at providing the real sector of the economy of the Republic of Belarus with science-intensive digital technologies. As the Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov emphasized, “we must have academic cooperation in solving major problems facing the country’s economy. It is necessary to unite the scientific potential of scientists, the efforts of our organizations to make integration decisions on major practical problems of the national economic complex”.

The main task of “IT-City Academic”: development of import-substituting digital technologies for enterprise is a various forms of ownership; export of digital technologies of services that have passed domestic approbation to foreign markets; development of scientific, technical and production potential of the participants’ subdivisions in the field of information technology; consulting and educational services; scientific expertise and support of innovative and scientific and technical projects of different levels.

At the moment, there is an agreement on the participation in the “IT-City Academic” of a number of organizations of the NAS of Belarus: the Institute of Physics, A.V. Luikov of Heat and Mass Transfer Institute, the Institute of Applied Physics, the Center for Identification Systems, the Joint Institute of Mechanical Engineering, the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry and others. It is planned that in the course of the Center’s activities, specialized organizations of other departmental subordination and private companies will join it.

It is planned at the Center will deal with digital design and computer modeling; technologies for processing, analyzing and using data; technologies of protection and guaranteeing the security of information systems; examination of the software that is used and developed, with the involvement of the results of experimental research. For example, in the field of digital design and computer modeling, IT-city participants have experience in using the technology for the development and maintenance of digital twin of various objects, technical, physical and technological processes. Participants will also carry out computer modeling, design and development of decision-making systems for industrial enterprises, transport and logistics, agriculture, construction, extraction and processing of natural resources.
