On July 18-24, 2021 the State Scientific Institution “Institute of Experimental Botany named after V.F. Kuprevich of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus” conducts the Youth Summer School on Forest Phytocoenology “SYLVAN-2021” on the territory of the National Park “Belavzhskaya Pushcha” on the basis of the ecological and educational center in the village of Vaytou Most.

The purpose of the summer school is to familiarize students and undergraduates of biological and forestry specialties with various methods of studying forest ecosystems, exchange the experience of leading specialists in the field of forest phytocoenology and dendrochronology with young scientists, expand ties between the National Academy of Sciences and universities of Belarus.

The summer school program provides for participants to conduct field and cameral research under the guidance of specialists, present research results and reports by leading scientists in the following areas:
- structure and dynamics of forest stands;
- dendrochronology;
- general forest geobotany;
- geobotanical profiling;
- structure and biodiversity of dead wood.

The summer school should result in:
- increasing the motivation of students and undergraduates to engage in scientific activities;
- exchange of experience of leading scientists in the field of forest phytocoenology and dendrochronology with young specialists;
- development of links between scientific and educational institutions in the field of biology and forestry.

To participate in the seminar, 16 people registered, representing 8 research institutions, higher educational institutions of Belarus and Russia.

Location: NP “Belavzhskaya Pushcha” (Vaytou Most village, Svislatsky district, Grodno region, Republic of Belarus).
