On November 5, 2021, at 11.00, a press conference was held in the Media Centre of the House of Press, timed to coincide with the World Science Day for Peace and Development (November 10), on the topic: "State support for scientific research and scientific cooperation in Belarus." On behalf of the Academy of Sciences, the event was attended by: Sergei Chizhik - First Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the NASB, Academician of the NASB and Andrey Ivanets - Chief Scientific Secretary of the NASB, Doctor of Chemical Sciences. As part of the press conference, the speakers spoke about priority areas in science, including digital information technologies, biomedical developments, energy, mechanical engineering, the development of agro-industrial technologies and human and state security.

As Sergei Chizhik noted at a press event, domestic science, with the support of the state, provides our country with the ability to compete in the modern global world and effectively respond to the challenges of the time. According to S. Chizhik, the current principle of the structure of academic science is very progressive. It allows not only to provide scientific support to the branches of the national economy for their development, but also to respond to the global challenges of the time. For example, such as a pandemic. In his turn, Andrei Ivanets said that today about 80 scientific organizations are successfully functioning at the Academy of Sciences, 12 industrial enterprises, 4 agricultural productions, 24 branch laboratories, which have been created on the basis of the NASB and relevant ministries (Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Natural Resources, etc.). In order to scale laboratory developments, there are about 230 of our own production sites, which allow you to create prototypes ready for transfer to industrial operation. “This is the most important link between fundamental science, scientific and technical developments and their real application,” said Andriy Ivanets.
