Members of the 14th Belarusian Antarctic Expedition started scientific research. In honor of the opening of the Antarctic season, the state flag of the Republic of Belarus and the flag of the NASB were raised. This was reported to the Presidium of the NASB by the head of the 14th Belarusian Antarctic Expedition (14th BAE) Aleksey Gaidashov.
“At the end of December 11, 2021, emergency and urgent work on the commissioning of the main life support facilities of the Belarusian Antarctic station “Mount Vechernyaya” and the deployment of scientific research programs on the flagpoles of the Belarusian Antarctic station in honor of the opening of the next Antarctic season, the state flag of the Republic of Belarus and the flag of the National Academy were raised Sciences of Belarus”, - informed Aleksey Gaidashov.
On November 15, 2021, the 14th Belarusian Antarctic Expedition was officially launched at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. This year 11 people went to the ice continent. The expedition includes researchers from the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (Republican Center for Polar Research, Institute of Physics, Joint Institute for Informatics Problems, State Scientific and Production Association “Scientific Research Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for Bioresources”), BSU (National Research Center for Ozonosphere Monitoring) and other organizations of the country. The team consists of specialists who have already visited Antarctica (8 people) and beginners (3 people). From December 2021 to May 2022, the members of the expedition will have to work hard to increase the construction of their own house on the shores of Antarctica - the Belarusian Antarctic station "Mount Vechernyaya", as well as to conduct scientific research within the framework of the new state program for the study of Antarctica. The return is planned for late April - May 2022.
