The NASB has summed up the results of the election of new full members (academicians) and corresponding members. The elections took place during the session of the General Meeting of the NASB on December 17, 2021.
30 and 57 candidates applied for 23 vacancies of academicians and 27 vacancies of corresponding members, respectively. The largest competition was noted among candidates for the title of academician in the specialty "Materials Science in Mechanical Engineering" (three people per seat). Among the candidates for the title of Corresponding Member, the largest number of applicants was in the specialty "Materials Science" (nine people per seat).
As a result of secret ballot, 19 full members (academicians) and 16 corresponding members were elected.
Reputable scientists, leaders of scientific directions became academicians. Among them: Emilia Kolomiets, Director of the State Scientific and Production Association "Chemical Synthesis and Biotechnology", Director of the Institute of Microbiology of the NASB; Alexander Kovalenya, Academician-Secretary of the Department of Humanities and Arts of the NASB; Fedor Privalov, General Director of the Scientific and Practical Center of the NASB for Agriculture; Anatoly Kulak, Director of the Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry of the NASB. Famous medical scientists have joined the ranks of academicians, including - Oleg Rummo, director of the Minsk Scientific and Practical Center for Surgery, Transplantology and Hematology; Sergey Krasny, Deputy Director for Scientific Work of the Republican Scientific and Practical Center of Oncology and Medical Radiology named after N.N. Alexandrov; Leonid Titov, head of the laboratory of the Republican Scientific and Practical Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology.
Among the 16 elected Corresponding Members are Andrei Ivanets, Chief Scientific Secretary of the NASB; Sergey Gubkin, Director of the Institute of Physiology of the NASB; Andrey Pilipuk, Director of the Institute for System Research in the Agroindustrial Complex of the NASB; Nikolay Kuleshov, Head of the Department of the Belarusian State Technical University; Sergei Rubnikovich, Rector of the Belarusian State Medical University; Igor Karpov, Head of the Department of the Belarusian State Medical University.

On December 17, 2021, the NASB hosted a session of the General Meeting of the NASB. About three hundred representatives of academic, university, industrial science, members of the Presidium of the NASB, senior officials, representatives of republican government bodies, leading scientists of the country took part in its work. The agenda of the session includes elections of full members (academicians), corresponding members of the NASB and foreign members of the NASB.
