Director of the Institute of Radiobiology Igor Cheshik, Deputy Director for Research of the Institute of Radiobiology and Head of the Ecological and Economic Research Sector of the Institute of Economics Nadezhda Batova took part in the thematic meeting of the Council for Sustainable Development dedicated to the development of regions affected by the Chernobyl disaster.

The event was held in commemoration of the International Day of Remembrance of the Chernobyl Disaster, which was established by the UN at the initiative of Belarus. Representatives of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus announced the possible areas of the scientific research and cooperation, the practical implementation of which will contribute to the accelerated development of areas affected by the Chernobyl accident. The results of the discussion will be used in the work of the government and UNDP to improve the mechanisms of the bilateral partnership in order to promote the sustainable development of the Chernobyl regions of Belarus.
