The conference «Scientific and technical cooperation as a basis for the development of the EAEU in the face of the new economic challenges: problems and ways to solve them» was held at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus

On June 20, 2022, the International Scientific and Practical Conference «Scientific and Technical Cooperation as the Basis for the Development of the EAEU in the Context of New Economic Challenges: Problems and Ways to Solve Them» was held at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The conference was organized by the Eurasian Economic Commission and the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

The conference was attended by the representatives of science, education, manufacturing enterprises and government departments from the EAEU countries. They discussed solutions to the applied problems of the reducing of the dependence on equipment and technology imports and identified the promising areas for the development of their own applied scientific base. The conference included four sections: production and import substitution in the market of the pharmaceutical and biological products; information and communication technologies (ICT); the development of the mechanical engineering and new materials; development of the EAEU economy in the context of the structural and technological transformation. The results were summed up at the plenary session, which took place in the format of an expanded meeting of the Presidium of the Scientific and Technical Council under the Chairman of the EEC Board.

As Mikhail Myasnikovich noted at the plenary session, the proposals formed as a result of the conference will be taken into account in the preparation and implementation of the joint programs and high-tech projects, the formation of the national databases of the information on science and technology, and will also be in demand in the work of the high-level working group being formed to create the conditions for increasing the internal stability of the economy of the EAEU states. Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Academician Vladimir Gusakov said at the plenary session that the development of science, the qualitative growth of its potential and tools in the EAEU countries are given key, strategic importance. «Today, an extremely topical issue is on the agenda: the priorities of the scientific and technological development of the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union. In fact, this is a question of identifying specific areas and measures to ensure scientific and innovative security and strengthen the technological sovereignty of each of our countries and the integration association as a whole. The priority development of science, the qualitative growth of its potential and tools in the countries of the Union is given key, strategic importance. Science, which is at the forefront of the solving the most complex problems of mankind, is the first to face global threats. Therefore, it is so important for scientists to work proactively, look beyond the horizon of the opportunities and reduce potential negative effects to a minimum», Vladimir Gusakov said.

During the plenary session, Mikhail Myasnikovich presented a number of members of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus with certificates of honor for their contribution to the development of the Eurasian integration. Vladimir Gusakov, in turn, awarded Sergey Glazyev with the badge «Big medal of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus2 and congratulated him on his recent election as a foreign member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
