The grand opening of the VIII Belarusian Space Congress took place

On October 25, 2022, the opening ceremony of the VIII Belarusian Space Congress took place on the basis of the Joint Institute for Informatics Problems.

More than 200 scientists and specialists, a large delegation of the Russian Federation take part in its work. Representatives of the state corporation Roscosmos, the Russian Academy of Sciences, as well as enterprises and organizations working in the field of space technologies arrived in Minsk. Cosmonauts also arrived at the Academy of Sciences – Oleg Viktorovich Novitsky, pilot-cosmonaut, Hero of the Russian Federation, and Oleg Kotov, deputy director for research at the IBMP RAS, pilot-cosmonaut, Hero of the Russian Federation.

As Vladimir Gusakov, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, noted at the opening of the VIII Belarusian Space Congress: «Belarus is one of the countries that has an effective system of scientific institutions and an appropriate infrastructure for conducting research in many relevant scientific areas. The scientific potential of Belarus allows us to focus on an innovative path of development and creation The space sector in the areas of information and communication and aerospace technologies, remote sensing of the Earth, space instrumentation and the electronics industry has been identified as one of the priority areas for the innovative development of Belarus», said Vladimir Gusakov. Speaking at the opening of the VIII Belarusian Space Congress, State Secretary of the Union State Dmitry Mezentsev noted that Belarus and Russia would form a new package of union integration programs. Dmitry Mezentsev recalled that 28 union integration programs were approved in November 2021 by the Supreme State Council with the participation of the heads of state. These union programs are aimed at unifying the legislation of Belarus and Russia in various sectors of the economy, at equalizing the conditions for the activities of economic entities of the two countries, building common financial and energy markets, transport space, forming and implementing a common industrial and agricultural policy.

The Belarusian Space Congress is being held at the National Academy of Sciences on October 25-27 on the basis of the A.V. Lykov Joint Institute for Informatics Problems and the Institute of Heat and Mass Transfer. It is planned to hear more than 120 presentations by scientists and specialists from Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, China and Uzbekistan.

The NAS also hosts an exhibition of scientific and technical space products based on the results of the implementation of scientific and technical programs and projects in the field of space, as well as an exposition of technical and popular science literature on space topics. In total, the exhibition presents about 40 exhibits. Organizations of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (A.V. Lykov Joint Institute for Informatics Problems, Institute of Heat and Mass Transfer, Institute of Applied Physics, Geoinformation Systems enterprise, Research and Production Center for Materials Science, Institute of Powder Metallurgy, etc.) present their works, Belarusian State University, JSC «Peleng» and other organizations.
