In honor of the 15th Antarctic season opening, the national flag of the Republic of Belarus and the flag of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus were raised.

Belarusian polar explorers have started scientific research. This was reported to the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus by the head of the 15th Belarusian Antarctic Expedition (15th BAE) Alexey Gaidashov.

«Life support systems, means of transport and communications are operating normally. The Belarusian Antarctic Station (BAS) «Vyachernaya Mountain» has the necessary reserves of fuel, food, and medicines. Until the completion of the seasonal water intake equipment on Lake Nizhnyae, the BAS water supply is organized by active (forced) snowmelt in a temporarily equipped room. In the process of performing an air flight and deploying the life of the UAS «Vyachernaya Mountain» BAE personnel demonstrated well-coordinated teamwork, high discipline and high moral and volitional qualities. On November 20, 2022, at 17:00 UTC, in honor of the fifteenth Antarctic season opening, the Belarusian Antarctic Station hoisted the national flag of the Republic of Belarus and the flag of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus», Alexey Gaidashov informed.

On October 21, 2022, the 15th Belarusian Antarctic Expedition was officially launched at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. This year 12 people went to Antarctica under the guidance of an experienced polar explorer - the head of Antarctic expeditions Alexey Gaidashov. The expedition includes researchers from the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (Republican Center of Polar Research, Institute of Physics, Institute for Environmental Management, Scientific and Practical Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus on Bioresources), BSU, Belhydromet, and other organizations of the country.
