On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the creation of the USSR, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus to discuss the Soviet heritage in national culture and art

On December 8, 2022, at 11.00 the Center for the Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Researches of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (Minsk, Surganova str., 1 building 2, room 302) will host a round table Soviet Heritage in National Culture and Art dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the creation of the USSR.

The organizers of the event are the Center for the Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Researches of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Kandrata Krapiva Institute of Art History, Ethnography and Folklore.

The formation of the USSR in December 1922 marked a new stage in the development of the entire national culture and art. During the Soviet period, national schools were formed in literature, visual, theatrical, musical arts, architecture, and cinema. Creative achievements of the Soviet period largely determined the direction of further development and research in contemporary art and culture of Belarus. The leading researchers of Belarus will take part in the discussion of the issues of the Soviet heritage.

In the round table Program there are:
1. Reports on the role and significance of the Soviet heritage in the literature, language, culture and art of Belarus, its study and preservation as an important and integral part of the historical and cultural heritage.
2. Performance of the Center's Musical Chapel under the direction of Galina Pavlovna Tsmyg with works of the Soviet period of the history of Belarusian music (Igor Olovnikov, Yury Semenyako, Anatoly Bogatyrev, etc.)
3. Virtual exhibition of Soviet-era glass.
