Commemorative plaque in honor of Academician Anatoly Gordienko was unveiled at the Physico-Technical Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus

A commemorative plaque was unveiled at the Physico-Technical Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in honor of the famous scientist in the field of materials technology, academician, laureate of the State Prize of the BSSR Anatoly Gordienko, who would have turned 81 on December 18.

Anatoly Gordienko was born in 1941 in the village of Lokti, Nizhneomsky district. After graduating from BSU in 1964, the young specialist got a job at the Physico-Technical Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Here he passed all the steps of the scientific career ladder from an engineer to the director of a scientific institution, which he led from 2002 to 2016. Anatoly Illarionovich is the author of more than 360 scientific papers, including 11 monographs, 61 inventor's certificates and patents.

Colleagues, friends and relatives came to honor his memory. On this day, many warm words were addressed to the scientist. As the first deputy chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Sergey Chizhik noted, «Everyone here knew Anatoly Illarionovich personally, we remember him, it seems that we only recently communicated. He raised a galaxy of students, did a lot in science.»
