In the period from February 6 to 17, 2023, the 60th session of the Scientific and Technical Subcommittee of the UN Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space was held in Vienna (Republic of Austria) in a hybrid format.
A delegation of the Republic of Belarus consisting of representatives of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the unitary enterprise Geoinformation Systems took part in the session via videoconference. The organizational support of the Belarusian delegation was provided by the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Republic of Austria.
During the session, Ivan Bucha, Deputy Head of the Aerospace Activities Department of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Apparatus, made statements from the Republic of Belarus. The Scientific and Technical Subcommittee has received statements on the following agenda items: under item 3 General Exchange of Views – Activities of the Republic of Belarus in the Field of Exploration and Use of Outer Space for Peaceful Purposes and Prospects for its Development, under item 7 Space Debris – Prevention of Man–made Contamination of Outer Space is a Global Problem, on item 12 Long–Term Sustainability of Space Activities – Legal Regulation of Long-Term Sustainability of Space Activities.
The session was attended by 102 member states of the UN Committee on the Exploration and Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, the Republic of Belarus has been a member of this committee since 2013.
