On February 21, 2023, a Republican Dictation on the Belarusian language was held at the Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library. The name of the dictation: Belarus is a Dream Country.

Chairman of the Presidium Vladimir Gusakov, who is also the author of this year's dictation text, delivered a welcoming speech at the event. More than 2 thousand people registered for the event not only from Belarus, but also from the USA, Germany, Poland, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Slovakia.

Among the organizers of the Republican Dictation are the Yakub Kolas Institute of Linguistics and the Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library. This year's Republican Dictation is timed not only to the International Mother Tongue Day, but also to the Year of Peace and Creation.

The International Mother Tongue Day was established in 1999 at the 30th session of the UNESCO General Conference to preserve linguistic and cultural diversity and is celebrated annually on February 21.
