On February 28, 2023, a delegation of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Cuba and the BioCubaFarma Group of Companies headed by the First Deputy Minister of Health, Ms. Tania Margarita Cruz Hernandez, visited the NAS of Belarus.

During the meeting with Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir G. Gusakov, the parties discussed the current state of cooperation between the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and scientific organizations of Cuba in the field of medical sciences and biotechnologies, as well as ways to develop cooperation. Genetics, virology, the use of stem cells, "smart systems" in the field of healthcare, and drug synthesis have been identified as the most promising areas of cooperation for the near future. An agreement was reached on the development of a roadmap for cooperation and on the joint participation of specialists from the two countries in the upcoming competition of Belarusian-Cuban projects under the BRFFR.
