On October 12-13, 2023, the II Forum of the IT Academgrad Artificial Intelligence in Belarus was held.
As Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov noted at the opening ceremony, "technologies based on artificial intelligence are rapidly developing in our country. Their scope of application is almost all areas of the economy. And it can't be any other way, because the world is changing, there is an active movement in modern technologies. Now it is impossible to imagine a full-fledged life of any person without them. And then, we believe, this development will be even faster. With the help of AI, you can already design anything, even an analogue of intelligence, the human brain, edit the human genome. And that's not all. Artificial intelligence is the basis of many technical systems, of the unpopulated production organization. With the help of AI, products are printed, including food, any of the most complex products, it is only necessary to set a program. It can do works of art – music, poetry, etc."
Within the framework of the Forum, the winners of the first open competition Leaders of Artificial Intelligence of Belarus were awarded. The winners in each category of the competition were awarded cups and diplomas of I, II and III degrees. The competition was held in three categories: the leading company of artificial intelligence in Belarus; the leading project of artificial intelligence in Belarus; the leading product of artificial intelligence in Belarus.
An exhibition of significant domestic developments in the field of artificial intelligence and robotics was organized on October 12 and 13 as part of the II Forum of the IT Academgrad Artificial Intelligence in Belarus. About 50 organizations of the country took part in the forum and demonstrated their achievements in the field of artificial intelligence at the exhibition. These are research organizations engaged in research in the application of artificial intelligence methods, representatives of educational institutions, private companies.
The main organizer of the Forum and the exhibition, the United Institute of Informatics Problems of the NAS of Belarus, presented the latest developments in the field of artificial intelligence, medicine, bioinformatics, robotics and speech technologies. One of the novelties, the Artificial Intelligence Platform BELAI.BY, is a web application for specialists in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and anyone interested in AI research and development. One more development of the institute can be noted, a Voice AI assistant which is platform with question-and-answer systems in the Belarusian language, which are based on technologies of speech recognition and synthesis systems, dialog systems. The exhibition presented a joint development of the United Institute of Informatics Problems of the NAS of Belarus and the A. N. Sevchenko Institute of Applied Physical Problems of BSU, an Information and Analytical Decision Support System for the Use of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection based on GIS and Web technologies and Earth remote sensing data.
One of the novelties of the exhibition, the Artificial Neuron development, was presented by the Institute of Physics named after B.I. Stepanov of the NAS of Belarus. An artificial pulse neuron based on the optoelectronic pair "vertically emitting laser - single photon avalanche photodiode" is designed for the development and modeling of artificial pulse neural networks of the third generation of wide application.
Research and Production Center for Multifunctional Unmanned Complexes of the NAS of Belarus presented at the exhibition unmanned aerial vehicles Busel MKR and Hexacopter-1, equipped with the latest hardware and software complex of domestic development, combining artificial intelligence technologies, which makes it possible to effectively solve with the help of UAVs such tasks as: automatic tracking of moving vehicles objects and determination of their current coordinates; identification of invasive plants’ habitats; detection of narcotic plants’ crops; operational ecological and functional diagnostics of coniferous forests (identification of drying areas and forest diseases).
The Forum hosted a round table Legal and Moral Aspects of Regulating the Use of Artificial Intelligence Technologies, the 26th meeting of the Expert Council of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications (the Expert Council of the IPA CIS — RCC). An official ceremony of joining new participants to the Code of Ethics in the field of artificial intelligence, a meeting Topical Issues of Artificial Intelligence Development in the Republic of Belarus took place.
The purpose of the Forum of the IT Academgrad Artificial Intelligence in Belarus is to demonstrate achievements in the field of artificial intelligence and robotics; to develop and coordinate cooperation between scientists and specialists engaged in research in the field of artificial intelligence methods in the interests of finding effective solutions and practical recommendations for their application in various spheres of life.
