On December 13, the first meeting was held at the NAS of Belarus under the leadership of the Chairman of the Subcommittee on State Prizes of the Republic of Belarus in the field of science and technology, Academician Alexander Ilyushenko. It was decided to admit the works to the competition for the State Prizes of the Republic of Belarus in the field of science and technology in 2024.

It was noted at the meeting that the holding of the next competition for the State Prizes of the Republic of Belarus is a landmark event for the scientific and technical community of the country. After all, the State Prize is the highest recognition of the merits of figures of science and technology, literature, art and architecture to society and the state. It was emphasized that the main results of the work should be obtained and published, and their practical development (technology development, serial production) achieved at least two years before the deadline for accepting works for consideration by the Committee on State Prizes of the Republic of Belarus. It means, in this competition, documents were accepted until October 1, 2023, therefore discoveries and scientific achievements, the results of which have significantly enriched domestic and world science and technology, must be received by October 1, 2021!

At the first meeting of the Subcommittee on State Prizes of the Republic of Belarus in the field of science and technology, the heads of the sections were heard, who reported on the results of the work of the sections of the Subcommittee on peer review and expert review of works. A discussion of the works took place. And only after that, a secret vote was held on the admission of works to the competition. The list of works admitted to the competition, indicating the authors and nominees who submitted these works, will be published in the media by January 1, 2024.

Recall that on November 9 of this year, the Chairman of the Committee on State Prizes of the Republic of Belarus, Vladimir Grigoryevich Gusakov, held a working meeting with the heads of the Subcommittees, where the tasks were discussed of the Committee on State Prizes of the Republic of Belarus on the organization and holding of the 2024 competition. A lot of work has been done since then, in November and December. The sections held their meetings, at which reviews were heard, the works were discussed and voting (secret) took place on the admission of works to participate in the competition for the State Prizes of the Republic of Belarus in 2024.

Since 2016, State Prizes have been awarded once every four years (previously it was once every two years). The composition of the Committee on State Prizes of the Republic of Belarus was formed in coordination with ministries and departments and includes 68 people. These are major managers, practitioners, outstanding scientists, masters of art, literature and architecture of the Republic of Belarus. Among them, 39 experts are included in the Subcommittee on State Prizes of the Republic of Belarus in the field of science and technology.
