On April 30, 2024, a General Meeting session of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus was held. It was attended by about 400 representatives of academic, university and branch science, heads of republican government bodies, well-known scientists. The event was attended by Sergey Khomenko, Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, Marianna Shchyotkina, Head of the Representative Office of the Standing Committee of the Union State in Minsk, Sergey Shlychkov, Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Guchok, Chairman of the Higher Attestation Commission of the Republic of Belarus, and other distinguished guests.

Vasily Gursky, Chief Scientific Secretary of the NAS of Belarus, made a report on the activities of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in 2023 and tasks for 2024.

As Vasily Gursky noted before the General Meeting session, the NAS of Belarus, as the country's leading scientific organization, is actively developing, constantly updating the subject of scientific research, expanding competencies and not only increasing the number of scientific research, but also developing as a scientific and production corporation, continuously introducing developments both in its production facilities and in the country's economy. "In 2023, all the planned targets of the NAS of Belarus were fulfilled. Total production increased by more than 14%. The volume of production of high-tech scientific products has increased by more than 20%," said Vasily Gursky.

After the report, 16 people took part in the debate: academicians, corresponding members, heads of scientific organizations, leading scientists of the country. The scientific community has also identified the directions of long-term development. Following the results of the session, the Resolution of the General Meeting on the Results of Scientific, Technical and Innovative Activities of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in 2023 and Tasks for 2024 was adopted as a basis.

As part of the General Meeting session, an exhibition of the latest achievements of the NAS of Belarus organizations in priority areas was organized, at which innovative projects and scientific developments were presented. Humanitarian scientists presented an exposition of new books and archaeological finds.
