4th Belarusian Biochemical Congress Modern Problems of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology held at the Institute of Biochemistry of Biologically Active Compounds in Grodna

On May 17, 2024, the 4th Belarusian Biochemical Congress Modern Problems of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology was held on the basis of the Institute of Biochemistry of Biologically Active Compounds of the NAS of Belarus (Grodno). The purpose of the Congress is to assess the current state of fundamental research in the field of biochemistry and molecular biology, analyze the results achieved and their use in practice, identify areas for further development, taking into account world experience and the needs of the Republic's economic sectors, expand international cooperation in various fields of biochemistry, discuss and develop new joint programs and projects.

The Congress was attended by representatives of scientific organizations, universities, healthcare institutions of the Republic of Belarus, the Russian Federation, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iraq, Serbia, Turkey, and the United States. Academic Secretary of the Department of Medical Sciences of the NAS of Belarus, Doctor of Medicine, Professor Vasily Bogdan, who conveyed greetings to the Congress participants from Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov; Director of the Institute, Candidate of Biology, Associate Professor Oleg Kuznetsov; Corresponding Member of the NAS of Belarus Andrey Moiseyonok made their welcoming speeches at the Congress. The reports of the Congress participants were devoted to the most important results of scientific research and development in the field of biochemistry, molecular biology, clinical biochemistry, pharmacology, oncology.

Within the framework of the 4th Belarusian Biochemical Congress Modern Problems of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, the leading researcher of the Institute of Biochemistry of Biologically Active Compounds of the NAS of Belarus, Doctor of Biology, Professor Alexander Makarchikov was awarded the title of Honorary Professor of the Institute.

The publication of the peer-reviewed scientific journal Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and its appendix were timed to coincide with the work of the Congress.
