On September 3, 2024, an official event dedicated to the Knowledge Day was held in the building of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
The event was attended by: Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Academician Uladzimir Gusakow, Deputy Chairmen of the Presidium, members of the Bureau of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus, academicians-secretaries of the Departments of the NAS of Belarus, heads of scientific and public organizations of the NAS of Belarus, master’s students of the University of the NAS of Belarus, their relatives and friends.
Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus Uladzimir Gusakow, on behalf of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, on behalf of all scientists and on his own behalf, congratulated the young people on their successful admission to the Master's degree program of the Academy of Sciences. The head of the Academy emphasized: "This is a responsible choice for each of you, which gives you the opportunity to realize yourself and replenish the many thousands of scientific staff of the Academy. Today, academic Master's degree programs allow you to form the necessary competencies for scientific research and innovation. Theoretical and practical training is conducted on the basis of scientific laboratories. The heads of master's theses are academicians, corresponding members, doctors habilitati, leading scientists and specialists. Graduates of the Master's degree program have the right to continue their postgraduate studies and work in scientific organizations." Welcoming words were addressed to the undergraduates by: Siargiej Chyzhyk, Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus; Aliaksandr Kiĺchewski, Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus; Siargiej Shcharbakow, Academician-Secretary of the Department of Physical and Technical Sciences; Aliaksandr Shumilin, Academician-Secretary of the Department of Physics, Mathematics and Informatics; Vasiĺ Bogdan, Academician-Secretary of the Department of Medical Sciences; Aliaksiej Trukhanaw, Academician-Secretary Department of Chemistry and Earth Sciences; Uladzimir Azaranka, Academician-Secretary of the Department of Agrarian Sciences; Aliaksandr Kavalienia, Academician-Secretary of the Department of Humanities and Arts; Aliaksiej Dajnieka, Chairman of the BRFFR Scientific Council, Director of the Executive Directorate; Piotr Vitsiaź, Academician of the NAS of Belarus.
During the official event, master’s students of the University of the NAS of Belarus were presented with a symbolic mark book.
The first classes of master’s students were held within the walls of the Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library of the NAS of Belarus.
According to the results of the entrance tests and on the basis of the decision of the admissions committee, 110 people were enrolled in the Master's degree program of the University for full-time education at the expense of the republican budget, 6 people (including foreign citizens from China – 2 people) on a paid basis. 41 full-time students and 4 paid students will continue to study in 2-year programs.
Thus, more than 160 master’s students of all types of education will study at the University of the NAS of Belarus in the 2024/2025 academic year. In the near future, the University is waiting for the arrival of another group of applicants from the People's Republic of China in the number of 30-45 people.
It should be noted that among the applicants who entered this year, the following specialties turned out to be the most in demand: ‘Economics’, ‘Law’, ‘Biology’, ‘Physics’, ‘Art History’, ‘Sociology’, ‘Chemistry’. The enrolled master’s students represent residents of different parts of our republic.
